	Gloria Menegaz
	Nata a Verbania, consegue la laurea in Ingegneria Elettronica, specializzazione Microelettronica, Optoelettronica e Strumentazione presso il Politecnico di Milano (1993), il Master in Tecnologia dell’Informazione presso il CEFRIEL-Politecnico di Milano (1995), e dottorato in scienze applicate, Docteur dès Sciences Tèchniques, al Politecnico Federale di Losanna, Svizzera, EPFL, 2000 con una tesi sulla codifica di immagini mediche multidimensionali basata su modelli. Al termine del dottorato diventa primo assistente presso il Laboratorio di Comunicazioni Audiovisuali LCAV-EPFL (2000-2002) e successivamente professore assistente presso il Dipartimento di Informatica della Facoltà di Scienze dell’Università di Friburgo (2002-2004), dove svolge compiti di insegnamento e ricerca ed è titolare del corso di Tecniche avanzate di elaborazione di immagini (laurea specialistica). Nel luglio 2005, gennaio 2007 e giugno 2008 è professore invitato presso l’Université d’Aix-Marseille II, Francia. Collabora con l’Imperial College, London, l’Université d’Aix-Marseille e l’EPFL. E’ qualificata come Professeur des Universités (Francia) in Informatica ed Elaborazione dei Segnali. Per rientrare in Italia ha rinunciato alla posizione appena vinta di Maître des Conférences presso l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI, Paris. Dal 2004 al 2007 è stata Professore Aggiunto (Rientro dei Cervelli) presso il Dip. di Ingegneria dell'Informazione dell'Università di Siena. Dall'ottobre 2007 è Professore Associato al Dipartimento di Informatica dell'Università di Verona grazie alla chiamata diretta secondo la Legge 230, dove svolge attività di insegnamento e ricerca nei settori dell'elaborazione dei segnali e della bioinformatica. All’Università di Siena è tuttora titolare del corso di Telecomunicazioni Multimediali (laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni ed Ingegneria Informatica), ha tenuto il corso di Elaborazione delle immagini basata sulla percezione per la Scuola di dottorato in Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni ed Ingegneria Informatica nel 2004, è co-direttore di tesi di dottorato e relatore di numerose tesi di laurea di primo e secondo livello. Autore di numerosi articoli pubblicati su riviste ed atti di congressi internazionali, ha contribuito allo sviluppo degli standard MPEG4 e JPEG2000. La sua attività di ricerca riguarda l’elaborazione di segnali basata su modelli percettivi (visivi e multisensoriali) per applicazioni all’elaborazione di immagini. Gloria Menegaz was born in Verbania, Italy. She graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in July 1993, and she obtained a post-grade MSc in Information Technology from the CEFRIEL-Politecnico di Milano center in 1995. In fall 1995 she joined the Signal Processing Institute (ITS) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) where she got the PhD in applied sciences in July 2000. From 2000 to 2002 she was first assistant at the Audiovisual Communications Lab. (LCAV) at EPFL, and from 2002 to 2004 she was Assistant Professor at the Computer Science Dept. of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). There she was in charge of the Master courses of Image Processing and Advanced Image Processing. In July 2005, January 2007 and June 2008 she was invited Professor at the University of Aix-Marseille II, France. She collaborates with the Dept. of Computing of the Imperial College, London (UK), as well as with the University of Aix-Marseille II and she is consultant (Independent expert) for the European Commission, appointed by the DG for Research and by the DG for IS&T since 2004. She is qualified as Professor in the French academic system in the Sections of Computer Science and Signal Processing. To join the University of Siena she resigned the position of MCF (tenure) at the l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris VI, Paris. From 2004 to 2007 she was an Adjunct Professor the Dept. of Information Engineering at the University of Siena thanks to the Rientro dei Cervelli grant. From October 2007 she is Associate Professor at the Dept. of Computer Science of the University of Verona (chiamata diretta, Legge 230), where she teaches Signal and Image Processing and Bioinformatics. At the University of Siena she is still in charge of the course of Telecommunications for the Multimedia, she thought the course of Perceptual imaging at the doctoral school of Information Sciences and Telecommunications Engineering (2004). She is co-tutoring two PhD thesis and she supervised many diploma projects. She published numerous papers in peer-reviewed international journals and proceedings of international conferences, and she contributed to the JPEG2000 and MPEG4 standards. Her research activity is in the field of perceptual imaging, namely the investigation and modeling of human perception for image processing applications. Her contract expires in Feb. 2007.
